Idaho firefighters endorse Minnick

Minnick endorsed by Professional Firefighters of Idaho

Mike Walker, vice president of the Professional Firefighters of Idaho, announced in a letter that the group has endorsed and is actively supporting Walt Minnick in his race against incumbent Rep. Bill Sali.

Minnick pledged that, as a Congressman, he will work with local and national first-responder groups on health, safety and labor issues. 

“Firefighters everywhere—especially ours here in Idaho—deserve every bit of help we can give,” Minnick said. “They put themselves on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and I could not be more proud to have them supporting my campaign.”

Professional Firefighters of Idaho is concerned with the health, safety and welfare of firefighters. The group focuses its efforts on improving workers compensation coverage for firefighters who contract certain cancers related to the job, making benefits more affordable and ensuring fair compensation. 

About Walt Minnick
Walt Minnick served as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army during the Vietnam War. He served in the Pentagon, traveled extensively overseas and worked in the White House where he was instrumental in the creation of the DEA and expansion of the U.S. Border Patrol. He moved to Idaho 35 years ago to begin a successful business career. He was the CEO of Trus Joist, and is the founder and chairman of Summerwinds Garden Centers, a chain of retail nurseries.
