The Spokane Spokesman-Review has endorsed Walt Minnick in his race to unseat Bill Sali, the representative from Idaho’s First Congressional District.

The newspaper is one of the largest in the Northwest, and its readership stretches across all of North Idaho. It has already endorsed Republicans John McCain and Jim Risch in the presidential and U.S. Senate races, respectively.

However, the newspaper called Bill Sali and his antics “uncooperative,” “incompetent,” “erratic,” “tiresome” and “irrelevant.”

The paper said Walt Minnick is the right choice for Idaho.

“His pragmatic, nonpartisan style has attracted many Republican supporters who have tired of Sali’s ideologically driven antics, which may play well on the far right but are unproductive and sometimes embarrassing for the state,” states the editorial. “Minnick is the best choice for Idahoans looking for practical leadership in uncertain times.”
